Maple Bacon Popcorn

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
  • 6 slices of bacon
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions
 

  • In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon and place it on a paper towel to drain. Once cooled, crumble the bacon into small pieces.
  • Pop the Popcorn: Leave about 1 tablespoon of bacon grease in the same skillet. Add the popcorn kernels to the skillet and cover with a lid. Cook over medium heat, shaking the skillet occasionally, until the popping slows down. Remove from heat and transfer the popped popcorn to a large bowl.
  • In a small saucepan, combine the maple syrup and brown sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is smooth. This should take about 3-4 minutes.
  •  Pour the maple syrup mixture over the popcorn, and toss to coat evenly. Add the crumbled bacon and sea salt, and toss again to combine.
  • Allow the popcorn to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy this sweet and savoury snack while it’s fresh.
